The One Woman That Both Second Cousins Would Love 

Lady Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell ( Howard) and later Carey, Duchess of Norfolk and Bedford Territory.

Lord Richard William Carey was already Duke of Bedford Territory on Star Base 12 when Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell arrived on Star Base 12 from Post World War Three Planet Earth that hadn’t recovered, not even after 117 years.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell was only 15 years old when she was packed off by her caretakers to the United Federation of Planets relocation program. She was a war orphan along with 499 other young people who were not affected by and from radiation poisoning.

Whereas, all the war orphans had seen most if not all of their immediate family die of the long term side effects of radiation poisoning.

All the young people boarded the USS Republic on April 30, 2270 and before it would reach Star Base 10 and 12 it would make stops to pick up further passengers on Talos IV and Rigel Seven.

USS Republic orbited around Talos IV on March 31, 2274 and it picked up a broken heart young man named Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley who had to bury his family who had been slaughtered by Kudos, the governor of Talos IV. 

Talos IV had been left with a food shortage and Kudos had decided to play god and he decided who would live and die and only the elite would be fed and so Kudos ordered the execution of all other families that were not of the elite.

One of those families was Mr. Thomas Riley, his wife, Karen, and their 12 year old daughter,  Kate

It was the morning of February 7, 2274, when the guards came for Thomas Riley first and he was executed and they came from his wife, Karen and daughter, Kate second, and they held each other crying and they were executed.

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley received the news on February 14, 2274, that his father, mother, and sister had been executed and he was bitter and he asked for leave from Star Fleet Academy to return to Talos IV to bury his father, mother, and sister together and to take care of their affairs.

Kudos has escaped with his daughter from being persecuted from the United Federation of Planets for their crime against humanity.

Once Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley took care of laying his father, mother, and sister to rest; he boarded the USS Republic on March 31, 2274 to return back to Star Base 12.

One day, Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley decided to walk to the garden on board the USS Republic and he didn’t see Karissa Elizabeth Ann Howard sitting in the garden but when he did he asked “I am sorry I didn’t mean to intrude on your privacy.” 

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell who was not even 19 at the time looks up at Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley and says, “ You are not intruding on my privacy. I come here every day.” 

“Would you mind some company?” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks her.

“No, not at all. Please join me.” Karissa tells him.

“I am Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley. I am returning from Talos IV where I had to lay to rest my family where they were executed by Kudos who is now called the Executioner.”  Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

“I am sorry for your loss, Lt. Riley. I too have lost my family but not the same way.” Karissa tells him.

“How did you lose your family, may I ask?” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks her.

“I lost my family to the long term side effects of radiation poisoning that affected the earth after World War III.” Karissa tells him.

“You see, my care-takers could no longer provide for me and there was a food shortage on Planet Earth.  Families were being given food coupons for only their immediate family members and I was not one and they packed me off to the United Federation of Planet relocation program.” Karissa tells him.

“I have been on The USS Republic since 2270 and I am headed for Star Base 12 to start a new life.” Karissa explains.

“Would you like to know about Star Base 12?” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks.

“Whatever you would like to share with me. I am listening.” Karissa tells him.

“Star Base 12 was first settled by Europeans fleeing from Pre-World War III in 2153. They left Europe on April 30, 2153 and one day later World War III broke out and the world they once knew was no more.” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

“The USS Excalibur brought 15 families headed by Lord Patrick William Howard and they relocated on Star Base 12 in 2159, but they didn’t get fully settled until 2164.” Lt.Kevin Thomas Riley explains.

“It is Lord Patrick William Howard’s family that governs most of Star Base 12 and his great-grandson, Lord Charles Andrew Howard is Duke of Norfolk Territory and his great-great-great-grandson, Lord Richard William Carey is Duke of Bedford Territory.” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley explains.

“They are the two senior Dukes on Star Base 12.” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

Karissa listens and she tells him “ There is no difference between an aristocrat or commoner as it is just a title that separates them.” 

Kevin and Karissa spend all their time together in the garden, eating their meals together in the mess hall, and in the recreational hall on board the USS Republic.

Finally, The USS Republic orbits around Star Base 12 on May 1, 2274 and they are the last ones to beam down and Lt Kevin Thomas Riley escorts Karissa out of the shuttle-craft and Lt. Kevin Thomas  Riley with Karissa on his arm walks over to where Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR and Lord Richard William Carey are standing and by his father’s side is Lord Andrew Charles Howard.

Lt Kevin Thomas Riley introduces Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell to both Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR and Lord Richard William Carey and  Kevin Riley says “ I would like to present  Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell. She has come to live on Star Base 12 from Post World War Three Planet Earth.” 

Karissa curtsy to both Lord Charles Andrew JR and Lord Richard William Carey and they are both charmed by her and Lord Charles Andrew JR offers her his hand and he helps her to rise to her feet.

“What territory will you reside in Mademoiselle Karissa?” Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR asks.

“I will be living at Madame’s Boarding Houses.” Karissa answers.

Lord Richard William Carey smiles and he tells her “ Welcome to my territory, Mademoiselle Karissa.” 

“Lord Richard William, would you please do me a favor and see Karissa safely to Madame’s Boarding House.” Kevin asks him.

“I have to get back to Star Fleet Academy. I have so much work to catch up on and I have to catch up with my exam.” Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks Lord Richard William Carey.

“Listen, Karissa. I will see you later. I will come to visit you at Madame once I get caught up.” Kevin promises her and with that Kevin bows and he starts to walk back toward Star-Fleet Academy.

Lord Richard William Carey escorts Karissa to his carriage and he carries her suitcases and he sees that she gets into his carriage and standing from a distance is Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR with his youngest son, Lord Andrew Charles Howard.

Both Lord Andrew Charles Howard and Lord Richard William Carey are looking for their bride and neither have found her on Star Base 12 and neither want to marry an aristocrat.

Lord Andrew Charles Howard and Lord Richard William Carey have their eye on Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell as a bride.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell has just arrived on Star Base 12 from a four and half year long journey from Planet Earth and all she wants to do is settle into Madame’s Boarding House.
